Application & Best Results
Before applying to your car, we strongly recommend you have the car surface as clean as possible as once applied, this coating is there to stay. For best results, use our Official Shelby Shampoo.
Application couldn’t be easier. On the cleanest surface you can manage and are happy with, apply our ceramic coating one panel at a time.
Using a good quality applicator pad, apply in long straight strokes, in one direction first (North to South for instance) and then in the other direction (East to West) until you see the panel is covered. Each panel will take approximately 15-20 seconds max to cure initially, then simply buff off with a damp cloth to reveal a glass like finish to your paintwork. See "Tips" for additional pointers!
Additional layers will improve the look and quality of the coating and can be applied after a full 24hrs after the first coating (6 hrs under good conditions). It’s also fairly important not to wash your vehicle with any detergents for 24 hrs after application. The coating is rain repellent after ONLY 20 mins.
Our product will remain bonded to the surface and will not become brittle, which means a harder wearing and longer lasting protective layer.
Each 100ml bottle is sufficient to coat a minimum of 4 /5 family sized cars at least once.
Additonal Tips & Notes
Depending on weather conditions, atmospheric conditions and surface conditions, all have a part to play in determining the length of time to flash and buff off. The ideal application conditions are a temperature controlled room. How many of us have that. Very few.
Our ideal conditions will be between 8 and 25 degrees centigrade. Mild conditions of low wind or no wind, and not direct sunlight. So where conditions vary to the above you need to allow differing curing times. Warm, dry conditions with a mild breeze, drying will occur quicker. Colder, damper conditions will add a few minutes. It's that simple.
If you find the product needs more of an effort to buff, simply use a clean, warm damp cloth. You wont damage the coating, but you'll make buffing it easier. We dont advise anyone to apply in temperatures less than 8 degrees centigrade.
DID YOU KNOW
- The ceramic hardness scale only goes up to 10H - so anyone claiming to have a 11H and above product are full of BS (that's not 'British Steel' by the way)
- A Ceramic Coating is only as hard as the surface its applied to
- A Ceramic Coating is measured in Micron's with most being 0.8micron to 1micron thick
- An oil based ceramic coating is by far the cheapest to make
- A good ceramic coating will not make your cloth or sponge go hard - that's the oil based chemicals.
- Only oil based chemicals need to come in glass or metal containers.
- Most coatings only leave around 20% of their contents on a surface
- Around 25ml is the standard for covering a medium sized family car (Mondeo or C Class)
So on the above - depending on what surface we're applied to, the range goes from 3h on rubber (remaining flexible with the rubber) to 9H on the car surface. Our average thickness is 1.1 micron - is that good? Actually is meaningless. What you need to know is that surface tension is high due to the tightness of each particle and as our coating leaves almost 49% on the surface, you know that tension is far superior.
Although this product is jam packed full of ceramic technology and will hide many minor scratches and swirls, it will not completely hide, mask, or remove any major swirl marks and scratches previously on the surface.
If your surface is badly marked, seek advice from a professional and reputable Detailer. We have approved CSL Shelby Detailers dotted around the country - .
Please also note that the liquid is blue in colour and is designed to be equally effective on the brightest and most pristine polar white to the darkest midnight black vehicles and surfaces. The blue is our signature colour range.
